RAD: 25th Anniversary Screening & After Party | AUGUST 19TH

2011 marks the 25th anniversary of the cult classic BMX movie Rad. The Uptown is here to host the highly anticipated event. This 1986 film, by director Hal Needham and writer Sam Bernard, is synonymous with 80s BMX culture.

Lifelong fans quoted in online bike forums. They petitioned for a DVD release. They even bid on collector shoes and fought over out-of-print soundtracks.

To celebrate this anniversary, the Calgary Underground Film Festival, themovierad.com, and the Town of Cochrane and Calgary (where RAD was filmed) are presenting a weekend long celebration.

Along with cast & crew in attendance, the anniversary event will include 35mm film screenings, a memorabilia museum, BMX museum, BMX related rides, tours of the shooting locations, and evening fun.

Proceeds from the event will help support the Cochrane BMX Association and the Calgary Underground Film Festival.
